Postponing of Friends of the Library Foundation Annual Spring Tea

03/14/2020 10:02:00 PM

Due to the current COVID-19 situation, Friends of the Library officers have decided to postpone the annual Spring Tea for 2020. The officers realize this is the largest fundraising event for the library on an annual basis, but the risk is not worth it at this time. Currently, a future date has not been selected. There are too many unanswered questions in regards to this virus and the impact it may have going forward in our community. We are using the following reasons for postponement:

A concern of individuals over the age of 60 and those with underlying health conditions are at the greatest risk

A concern of large gatherings of people, especially in small areas

A concern in regards to food

At present, both the Franklin and Douglas County Health Departments have shut down all schools, libraries and recreation centers

Unknown sanitation procedures at the event site

Thanks for your understanding in this situation. If you have not already, please refer to guidelines that will help keep you safe:

Cough

Monitor the following symptoms (fever above 100.4 F)

Shortness of breath

Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds

Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands

Avoid contact with people who are ill

Stay home if you are ill

Cover your cough/sneeze with a tissue or use your elbow

Disinfect frequently touched objects/surfaces
